I’m all for eating well. In fact, if you ask me (you did ask me, right?) sugar is one of the most dangerous drugs poisoning Americans. Forget about alcohol or tobacco, I would estimate our country’s addiction to all-things-sweet contributes to more deaths and health care costs than the previously mentioned vices.

With that being said, I can proudly say that I’m not a slave to sweets. Each year, I pass up Halloween & Christmas candies/sweets without much thought. But people, this is Easter and the rules have changed. Yes. I’m referring to the tantalizing treats from the good people at Cadbury. In particular, the Cadbury Creme Egg. I have no idea what the “creme” in Creme Egg might be, and I don’t care to find out. All I know is that they are heaven sent.
So, loyal jeffcarter.net readers (Misty & Stone!), you know how to find me and now you know my weakness. Do the math.
Now go place nice…
OK, this being my e-soapbox and all, I thought I’d vent for a while….
You see, I deplore redundant phrases, especially when they become overly repetitive
For example, before heading out for a night on the town, a friend of mine has to stop at the “ATM Machine”. So that would be Automated Teller Machine Machine…right.
A while back, an eBay buyer, when inquiring as to the status of his package, asked what the “estimated ETA” was for delivery. You see where I’m going with this. Finally, once and for all when you order your drink at Starbucks, you want an Espresso, not an EXpresso. An EXpresso only exists in your world of ATM Machines and estimated ETAs.
So, what’s your favorite redundancy? Now go play nice…
Well, its just past 1am and yours truly is wondering when exactly sleep will come.
Its my own fault really, everytime I exercise past 9pm, I can never fall asleep.
You know its really amazing the things people will try to sell you at this hour. Now, I don’t mean the usual set of exercise tapes or the latest from the Time-Life Collection. No. Those are common place. You see, the good stuff can be found by watching the infomercials on Telemundo. I swear in the past two hours I have seen some sort of weight loss cream that you’re supposed to rub over excess fat and watch the inches disappear. Not to be out done the “SweatBelt” (as best my Spanish-speaking skills serve me) is some sort of thermal contraption that you wear around all day and you guessed it…watch the inches disappear. I wonder if you can use the cream and the belt at the same time?
Double your pleasure, double your fun.
So as many of you know, we are currently at a level Orange terrorism alert. In conjunction with the newly formed Homeland Security Department, the government has also set up a new website in order to better inform the public of what to do in case of a terrorist attack.
Now while the subject matter (terrorism) is a serious one, I can’t help but find this site hilarious! While the sites content is informative and all, the graphics they use are suspect. Read on to take a look at a few of my personal favorites.

Came across a really intriguing website yesterday. Iraqi Body Count is a site which keeps records of the number of Iraqi civillians who have paid the ultimate price of war.
Regardless of your feelings on the war, the loss of innocent men, women and children deserves our solidarity. The purpose of Iraqi Body Count is to chronicle the lives lost during our conflict with Saddam Hussein and his regime and is ran by a university professor who has incorporated proper research techniques to provide the world with this information.
Again, regardless of how you feel about our aggression with Iraq, check out the site and remember those lost on both sides of the battlefield…
I was shocked to read last night on Chris Pirillo’s blog that he was leaving TechTV and his show Call for Help. Chris’ message on his blog (which has been taken down and now forwards to Lockergnome) was short and sweet…stating only that he was leaving TechTV for greener pastures.
The plot thickened a few hours later when fellow TechTV personality, Leo Laporte posted on his blog that he was returning to the show he made popular before Chris’ arrival at TechTV. According to Leo’s post this was all good news and that Chris was leaving on his accord and headed to bigger and better things. However, according to Gretchen Pirillo’s blog (Chris’ wife) things might not be so rosy. In her own words, you don’t go into work one day not expecting to go in the next.
I can’t help but think that the powers that be at TechTV are playing games here.
I for one love Leo and will enjoy his future work on CFH, however, Chris is an incredible talent and brought diversity to a network that is quickly becoming one-dimensional.

…well maybe not the babies you’re think of…you see, today was the first day of Embryology Lab at school. According to our professor, we are going to be looking at the embryological development of chick, frog, drosophila melanogaster (fruit-fly), mouse and pig. While this was a bit more than I had bargained for in a 1 unit class, it does seem interesting–especially after spending the past two semesters couped up in the Neuro-Immuno lab!
I talked to my professor after class about the treatment of the animals and their subsequent offspring and was relieved to hear that he shared similar beliefs in regards to the ethical treatment of our fellow “non-human animals”.
We’ll be having lecture and lab on alternating weeks and will have the typical quizzes, exams, projects, etc. Again, a LOT of work for one course credit, but our professor is a good guy and I’m bound to learn more than I ever wanted to know about animal embryology…
Stay tuned…
