This morning, I was happy to hear that the final installment of the Lord of the Rings is nominated for an Oscar for best picture and that Peter Jackson is nominated for Best Director. While the competition from Mystic River or Master and Commander looks tough, most everyone agrees that this should be LOTR’s year. While nominated for the first two installments, everyone had the feeling that the Academy was waiting until the final piece of the trilogy was finished to honor this epic.
For their sake’s I hope they don’t disappoint a legion of fans across America. If Return of the King doesn’t win, the nerds of America will take to the streets and make the L.A. riots look like a day at kindergarten. I kid you not. Strap in.
