Michael Moore: Across Enemy Lines

Michael Moore will be covering this week’s Republican National Convention in a series of Op-Ed pieces for USA Today. The first article is up on the website and you can read it here. For my more conservative-natured friends, don’t worry, Moore has a lot of “good things” to say about you guys….

Incommunicado

Hey kids I’ll be out of the loop for the next 24 hours or so while I finish getting moved into the new place. Internet service should be ready to go on Saturday until then you can reach me on my cell…

Moving is kicking my ass. How did I accumulate this much crap in the last 4 years? Nonetheless, this beach bum is ready to put the (909) to rest…stay tuned.

Gold Medal Action

Before tonight, I had no idea that Olympic Beach Volleyball was my favorite sport…of all time.

The Vault

This evening, I finally sat down and wrote up a suitable archives page for this little site. I figure that the hundreds of posts I’ve written over the past eighteen months deserve a place to call home. Check it out and let me know if you have any suggestions…

Play Nicely

Cingular Wireless & AT&T Wireless announced today that they will support each other’s Mulitmedia Messaging Service (MMS). Effective immediately customers from the two GSM carriers can swap MMS messages without compatibility issues.

Seems the wireless industry remembers how SMS messaging exploded once cross-carrier compatability became a reality. Remember the old days of SMS text messaging when you could only send message to users on your network? The technology was almost useless. Once they opened up communication with each other, everybody (even my Mom) started using SMS. So, listen up guys! If you want your customers to buy more camera phones and more value-added services (like MMS) then sit down and come up with a way to make this happen!

Seeing these two carriers playing nicely with each other is a great start, but with Cingular very close to FCC approval of their buyout of AT&T, the two will soon become the same carrier anyway. The real fun will happen when T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint hop on board sit down at the table and hammer out a standard that we can all benefit from.

Making the Best of What’s Around…

When times are rough, a Dave song always finds its mark…

“Best of What’s Around”

See you and me
Have a better time than most can dream
Have it better than the best
So we can pull on through
Whatever tears at us
Whatever holds us down
And if nothing can be done
We’ll make the best of what’s around.

The Dave Matthews Band

A Deluxe Apartment in the Sky

Posts have been few and far between lately as I’m in the process of moving. Yes. Moving.

The great thing is that when you tell people that you are moving, they always get this grief-stricken look on their face. It reminds me of the look you get when you tell someone that you have a dentist appointment or that your pet hamster died.

So, while moving is a giant pain in the ass, actually relocating is going to be awesome. I’m leaving my inland party house for a cozy beach apartment in Orange County–the OC if you will.

In other news, the Dave Matthews Band is making its way to SoCal next week. Unlike the five or six shows I usually attend, this year, I’m only able to catch Sunday night’s concert in Carson. While I’m bummed that I’ll only be seeing the guys once, the bright side is that Ben Harper and The Black Eyed Peas are going to be “opening” for Dave. The event is shaping up to be more of a music festival than a single concert…pretty jazzed about that.

In the meantime, does anyone know where I can find some boxes?

Get That Man a Cigar!

Just wanted to say a quick congrats to my good friend, Josh and his wife on the new addition to their family. Those crazy kids will soon be welcoming a new addition to the Bradley household.

Congratulations!

Garden State

Last weekend, I tracked down a theater playing Zach Braff’s film and Sundance darling, “Garden State“. While I’d heard all the buzz surrounding the flick, I was curious to see if Zach could pull off the whole actor-writer-director-thing. Lemme tell ya, he did. In fact, he kicked its ass.

In keeping with the internet-buzz factor, Zach also has a blog that he updates on a regular basis and traffic to the site really reflects the impact the film has had on those who have been fortunate enough to see it.

Thanks to everyone who called, emailed, text messaged, etc. You made my birthday incredible…love ya all.

This Call May Be Recorded

One of my net heroes, Lawrence Lessig, has a post today about recent legistalation passed by the FCC to regulate VoIP services and subject them to federal wire-tapping laws. His guest blogger, Tim Wu, is concerned that while VoIP is still trying to get off the ground, the government is quick to regulate the technology’s “promises”.

Game. Set. Match.

Over the past couple of mornings, I’ve decided that nothing is more futile than two people, whom have never played tennis, learning to play tennis–together.

The activities go something like this:
Hit. Miss. Curse. Chase. [repeat]
