In Case of Rapture…

So I’m driving to school yesterday and find myself once again sitting in the parking lot known as the 91 freeway. So I pull up behind this car whose license plate frame says:

“In Case of Rapture…the Car is Yours!”

I literally laughed out loud. This dude was basically telling me that, hey, in case Jesus comes down out of the sky and snatches me up while I’m driving then help yourself to my car. Nice. I was really jazzed about the prospect of getting a free car until I noticed that he was driving a beat-up Hyundai. Oh well.

Running w/ Latte’s

So, I’m driving up PCH yesterday when I see this woman jogging on the sidewalk. This alone is no big deal. It was after all a beautiful sunny day in Newport Beach. What made this experience unique is that while running, she was carrying what appeared to be a latte from Starbucks. Seriously. She was haulin’ ass and holding a latte all at the same time. When I saw this spectacle, I thought…yes…this is Orange County. This chick could be the poster child for the O.C.

200 Posts Down…

This is has been a crazy week. Work in the lab has kept my time rather monopolized. But, it doesn’t end there…in fact it doesn’t begin there either. Looking back on the week, it seems that I’ve experienced every high and every low. There have been moments when I’ve felt terrible, betrayed and unloved. Then there’s the other end of the spectrum. At choice moments, I’ve been on top of the world feeling surrounded by friends and those who truly care for me.

So, am I just experiencing emotional swings or is this just part of my journey of rediscovery? Now–more than ever–I’m finding my own path and dealing with all of the above emotions along the way. Putting this down in such a public place feels a bit like that dream where you go to school only to realize you’ve forgotten your clothes.

So why do it? Why bring up something so personal for all the world to read? Why not just post something about the latest gadget or political tradgedy?

…i don’t know… Today, I just needed to share.

I Heart Gmail

Today the good folks at Google enabled POP access on my gmail account. Now if they would just setup a mobile version of the site, my email life would be complete.

Rawk!

I’m Not Okay

Courtesy of My Chemical Romance, words fitting for today…

What will it take to show you that it’s not the life it seems?
I told you time and time again, you sing the words but you don’t know what they mean.
So be a friend and have a look, another line without a hook…
I held you close as we both shook for the last time, take a good hard look!

I’m not okay
I’m not okay
I’m not okay
You wear me out…

But you really need to listen to me,
Because I’m telling you the truth
I mean this, I’m okay!
Trust me!

I’m not okay
I’m not okay
Well, I’m really not okay.
I’m not o-fucking-kay

Four More Years

I’m sitting here watching Kerry’s concession speech and I’m still surprised at the election results. While everyone expected the electoral vote race to be close, I’m shocked by the disparity in the popular vote. Reports from all the major media outlets indicate that it was “moral values” that was the underlying factor in voters chosing Bush for re-election. Nearly 25% of voters reported that above all other issues they were voting for Bush because they felt he would protect “American morals”.

Throughout this election, I’ve held that we are voting for more than just a President. Instead, this is really a cultural vote. In the end it came down to those Americans who want more science and progress and those Americans who want more Jesus and more guns. This has never been clearer to me now.

I don’t know about you, but as I look at the electoral map I am feeling more and more marginalized in our country.

How do you feel?

Still Undecided?

After talking to some of my friends and acquaintances it seems that there are still those who are “undecided” as to whom to vote for today. For the sake of time let me just simplify this race for those who could otherwise careless about politics.

Ask yourself a few simple questions:

  • Do you believe that stem cell research should be explored and encouraged?

  • Do you believe that what a woman does with her body is between herself and her doctor?
  • Do you believe that civil rights belong to everyone regardless of race, religion, gender and sexual preference?

If you’ve answered yes to any of those questions then your conscience dictates that you must vote to remove our President from office.

Not convinced? Well if the above social issues haven’t done the trick then I’ll leave you with this last bit of election day advise.

Just vote for who you think is smarter. That’s it. If in doubt, just vote for the smart guy.

Ho Ho Holy Crap

Damn…I was watching SNL’s Presidential special when I saw my first Christmas-themed commercial. Seriously guys, it’s like November 1st. Am I really going to have to endure this crap for the next 55 days?

Got the Time?

Well I am back home from my little Maui excursion. It was eight incredible days and I hope to be to share pieces of the trip over the next couple of days. While the trip was awesome, the time change was hell. Heading over to Maui we lost three hours. Needless to say it took a couple of days to get adjusted. Trouble started when we flew back. We left at 1pm and didn’t arrive in LAX until almost 10pm because we gained the 3 hours back. BUT Saturday night time changed so we lost another hour.

I still have no clue what time it is. Seriously, can somebody email me and let me know?
