there’s always 2010

today US Soccer was eliminated from World Cup play when they lost 2-1 to Ghana. so now everyone’s trying to figure out how a US team ranked 5th in the world gets eliminated from group play by a country so bankrupt that they have to shut down their manufacturing for the day to have enough electricity to watch the match on television.

i’m sick of hearing about how bruce arena fucked up or how the refs were incompetent and even though both are true i cant help but face the fact that we suck ass.

there i said it. the US Soccer team is no fucking good.

    The U.S. ranking is an artificial construction, and I don’t think that they should be inside the top 10. CONCACAF has only two strong teams: the U.S. and Mexico.

    Our Canadian team is ranked 83rd, or lower or higher, but once you get beyond fiftieth position, does it really effin’ matter?

    I would venture that most Americans have no clue that the World Cup is happening, and only a dim assumption as to what it is. A country that prays before the altar of (American) football does not deserve a team in the top 10…although, the same can be said of Les Canadiens, given our unabashedly aggressive love for hockey.

    The World Cup is the best sporting exhibition in the world, IMHO, and our countries can’t get switch the channel from NASCAR or baseball to take it in.

    We are all doomed!

    Doomed? I agree that we suck and were completely overrated, but doomed? What is our doom? And by “all” does that refer to me? I don’t want to be doomed.

    Both Canadians and Americans alike. Maybe not you, but someone you know, will be doomed to an eternity of watching in-car NASCAR channels and the Lower Texas Cactus Tackling competition, without a bathroom break, while drinking Zima with Joe Theisman and Terry Bradshaw.

    I would sooner wish for death than be doomed in such a fasion.

    Hey man you just crossed the line!!!! If I ever here you badmouthing the Bradshaw again I may have to lay my smackith downith. Terry is an all american hero. Who cares if his intellect is on par with the footballs he threw. I’d drink beer anytime with the guy who threw the immaculate reception.
