they insist on killing me with kindness

in an attempt to beat the rush, i went to the supermarket to buy supplies for tomorrow night’s festivities. despite my best intentions, there were approximately 30,000 people with the same idea and they all needed either beer, chips or both.

i manuevered quickly and slipped into the express lane.

after about 10mins of waiting, i started to notice that the 50-something lady working the register was taking this july 3rd evening to make new friends with every customer.

“excuse me, ma’am, the sign says express lane not ‘wont-you-be-my-neighbor-lane’”.

so i waited and waited for my turn and when i got my chance at the front of the line, i was both quick and efficient with my transaction.

however, i too was impervious to her friendliness. so to make a long story short, she’s having this great little bbq get together at her son’s house tomorrow and she’s really jazzed to see her grandkids.

damn. i’ve been killed by kindness yet again.
