so when you have a new camera, a puppy and no photographic skill whatsoever you find yourself taking crazy amounts of pictures.
just fucking around w/ lenses and f-stops and other such craziness.
so today stonebraker is leaving seattle for a camping trip to a destination that escapes me.
before he left we were chatting about his hometown senator, larry craig, and how sick it was that he was trying to get it on with someone in an airport bathroom after spending his political career cracking down on the “homosexuals”.
once stone was at the airport the following text messaging transpired and is presented here to allow you a snapshot into my life:
Stonebraker: At the airport taking a deuce and some guy kept trying to touch my foot and rub his hand under the stall!
Jeff: LOL dude was it the Senator?
Stonebraker: I think it might have been the president.
Jeff: ask for his autograph before the airport sex
…30 minutes go by…..
Stonebraker: dude i want to get it on with the flight attendant
Jeff: is he hot? Stonebraker: Dude, I think he was the one in the stall next to me! BAM
jake hurwitz is one of my favorite staff writers over at college humor. check out this post he wrote about emailing professors who have grown accustomed to the everyday excuses…not saying i have any experience with this, but i do.
i’m jazzed today because i’m expecting not one but TWO lenses to arrive on my doorstep.
josh was nice enough to lend me his EF-S 18-35mm lens because he said that while this is a good starter lens, he’d rather see me spend my pennies on something with a little more flare. i did not argue.
I’m also expecting the UPS guy to deliever the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens. Amazon has a really good price
on the lens and I snatched it up with all the cash I earn from this blog.
being at work sucks when you know that you’re getting new schwag delivered but when you’re waiting for TWO new pieces of schwag….wow it really sucks.
she was a beautiful lady and the living icon of peace and love.
in fact, she was an early inspiration in my life and she’s partially to thank for an inherent desire to help the sick and dying.
during her lifetime, religion was shouting salvation for the lost and reform to the depraved—as it has through the past two millennia. despite this, the good mother was less about god and more about being led by her love for those who suffer the most.
after a lifetime of speaking to us through her charitable works, she’s once again spoken to us from her grave. in letters expressing her doubt in the existence of god, she’s once again opened a world-wide debate on the state and nature of “religion”.
after reading her recently published letters, it turns out that the candidate for sainthood in the christian religion was herself wildly in doubt in the existence of god, jesus and faith.
that’s right.
mother teresa is on my team.
had you not known mother teresa’s work and only read her letters would you still love her and the religion she represented?
it turns out that we’re all in this together and the sooner we can be done with god, religion and their holier-than-thou-trappings the more time we can spend trying to emulate this saint among women.
so it was hotter than hell in socal today. i was driving home from lab and my very well-calibrated VW outdoor thermometer i can report that it was around 112F. of course i pulled my iPhone out and snapped this super-live-shot
heatwave aside, the best part of living in socal is that all of the local weather girls could easily be playboy playmates.
i guess when the weather only fluctuates by 40 degrees all year long you’ve got to have a hook to get people to watch the news…and it’s definitely working
this is a great blog post because i used the word “playmate†and “fluctuate†in the same post.
we sat for a couple of hours and talked about all sorts of craziness, but especially about photography and my burgeoning quest to become the world’s next great amateur photographer. amidst all of the convo we ate avocado eggrolls and polished off a modified-sampler that was dee-lish.
i was tempted to pull out my camera and take pictures of our food/drinks al-a-raymi, but i figured that maybe you have to be canadian to pull that off in public.
before we left, josh gave me my birthday gift. it was this incredible framed/matted picture that he took in Bryce National Park and now it’s proudly hanging in my apartment for buster and I to enjoy. here’s the original photo (click it to supersize)
i’m not sure why the “mainstream liberal media” isn’t covering this, but august 28th is the anniversary of one of the most influential events in american and human history.
44-years-ago today martin luther king addressed thousands of protesters at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. less than half-a-century ago, these citizens were campaigning for the right to be treated like human beings. dr. king’s dream was one of equality lived in a life full of peace and love.
despite the “liberal media”, today we can remember the incredible corner that humanity crossed some forty-plus years ago.
the new ben harper & the innocent criminals album is on sale today and i’m super jazzed. about a week ago they started streaming the entire album on the band’s website and i’ve been hooked ever since.
after their 9 month tour ended last year, the guys piled into a recording studio in paris and recorded “lifeline” direct to analog tape. no protools, no computers, just old school soul. the result is incredible.
when brandon and i saw the band in claremont we got to hear a couple of the tracks played live for the first time anywhere and to say they rock would be a huge understatement. i’m on my way out to pickup the combo CD/DVD now and you would be well-advised to do the same.
so i’m driving into bako today for another weekend trip. i’m going to try to fit in multiple visits with multiple friends while I’m there and that makes me super jazzed. that being said, it is Friday in socal and inevitably buster and i will be sitting in traffic on the 210 through Pasadena. ”dear santa jesus, please let know one else have the idea to use the 210West today…especially through the Pasadena/Â
a couple of weeks ago when i picked up my new macbook pro, i went ahead and used the $100 credit the apple store was offering on a new printer towards the purchase of a shiny new Canon Pixma All-In-One printer to print sexy self-portraits and to scan pictures of my face/butt/etc.
so today i finally found time to unload the printer. i decided on the canon b/c it has these great individual ink cartridges for each color (black, yellow, magenta, cyan, etc). This makes for big savings on ink and i’m all about saving a buck—as you know by the fact that i bought a macbook pro.
i finished unpacking the printer and loaded up the print cartridges but was missing the ‘magenta’ cartridge. i started digging through the box, looking around my desk, etc but to no avail. as i stood up from the office floor, i turned to my sliding glass door and i had this zoom-in-on-my-face hollywood moment where i realized that buster was contently chewing on something on my patio.
as i slid the glass door open, buster’s eyes cut up and looked at mine. he was covered in magenta ink. the patio floor was covered in magenta ink. my printer had no magenta ink.
i spent about 2.2sec being angry and yelling at him before i look at his magenta-dyed-fur and i spent the next few minutes punishing him while trying to hide how hilarious it was that his big puppy nose was pink.
oh and if you’re wondering, a magenta ink cartridge for a canon pixma mp510 costs around $12 at Office Depot.
i always get this sad/sick/depressed feeling whenever i read on someone’s profile page that their favorite book is: The Bible. The only thing worse than this is when they start listing each of the books of the bible individually as their collective “favorite books”.
furthermore, on rare occasions, you can find someone who pulls off the jesus-hat-trick by listing their favorite book as the bible, their favorite person as jesus and their favorite quote as a verse from the aforementioned favorite book.
this makes me want to buy the world a barnes and noble gift card…
