ups = hell

so the ups guy is gonna burn in make-believe-hell b/c my “guaranteed” 2-day air packages failed to show up today.

feck.

this means no battery grip or extra-large 8gb CF card for tomorrow’s SF trip.

thanks UPS guy!

i should have predicated this little rant by saying that i know the UPS guy and he lives a few buildings down from mine and has told me that I am always his “last stop” b/c i’m so close to his place.

i can only imagine that this means that he parks the brown fuck truck outside his apt building?

nonetheless, i’m sitting here w/ no battery grip and no 8gb flash card.

frick-feck-fuck.

Update: word of advice—never become friends w/ the UPS guy.

Update 2:

dear ups guy,

i’m sorry i said you can burn in make-believe-hell, b/c you showed up at my apt at 9pm w/ my package. i dont even care that it was guaranteed for a 12pm delivery time. i’m just jazzed that i’m very prepared for my weekend trip to SF.

oh and i guess he really does park the truck outside his apartment…weird.

the jury is out

holy crap i cant believe i leave for SF in 14hours!

honestly, i only have a few things left undone and one quick trip to Target should finish that up nicely.

whenever i pack for a trip, i always spend way too much time making sure all of my tech gear is in order. whether this involves scrutinizing over my iPhone’s playlist, packing chargers or syncing up files to my macbook pro, i inevitably invest too much time into gear that i rarely pull out during the trip.

this may be related my nerdiness….MAY be related…but, like evolution, the jury’s still out.

justin.tv

so i was fortunate enough to get a beta invite to justin.tv b/c my blog carries a lot of weight on the worldnet.

i’ve been toying with the idea of doing some vidcasting/lifecasting for a while now and jtv would definitely make that easy. while i’m def not interested in 24/7 lifecasting, i would like to record some content on the go w/ the new and improved iSight cam in the macbook pro.

the guys at justin.tv actually sent me a handful of invites, so if you’re into this kind of thing drop me a message.

my heart in SF

so i’m jazzed b/c i’m leaving friday for a long weekend in San Francisco. i’m joining the pretty girl and her sister in SF on friday, seeing the davematthewsband on saturday night and then stopping by the renaissance faire on the way back to socal on sunday.

heck yes.

i’ve spent my free time this week going through my todo list and i think w/ a little luck at least 50% of it will be done before i leave.

- haircut: check
- pickup bigger flash card for the camera: check
- buy battery grip for the camera: check
- give buster a bath: check
- load up ipod: thurs AM
- oil change: thurs PM
- do laundry: nope
- clean house: nuh-uh
- pay rent/bills: haha
- pack tickets: check

i must be honest, it’s not looking good for some of these things…

number 40

crazy day today…so let’s listen to #40 and make sense of it all:

tables turned again
And you my friend
You and I face each other
Oh time and time out
I know it’s sometimes hard
But knowing just doll
That we will get along
’Til we’re old and gray
And huddled up
We’re doubled up, we’ll sit
And laugh of times were hard
Laugh of times when we thought
All it would end, it all it was over
Then again
And know that I am your rich rain
And to leave you out, I’ll die
Oh my friend
It’ll be you until the end with me always
Always…

some people go to church, others take photos in their apartment.

Buster in the Morning

it’s saturday morning and wonderfully cool and drizzly. very seattle-like-weather for socal.

here’s a buster shot to get your day off on the right foot.

with a little help from my friends

if you ask me, joe cocker’s acid-induced performance of ‘with a little help from my friends‘ at woodstock was one of the greatest rock performances of all time. if not for cats like joe, the screamo rock scene may never had happened.

the clothes, the sideburns, the screaming, the free love all make this little you tube click historical. enjoy.

telling your mom you’re an athiest

this video is awesome and i stole it off of raymi’s blog.

glumbert - Don’t tell Mom you’re an atheist

my mom loves me no matter what shit i believe/donot believe in and gets me tons of presents for xmas. this makes her the best mom.

shoot up with god

so one of my favorite defunct bands is vendetta red. their last/final album’s bonus track was called ’shoot up with god’ and it’s badass.

the kids think it’s about doing drugs with god/jesus, but it reality it’s about drug addiction and the low-life-scum who become the addict’s god. deep stuff.

take a listen…

lyrics:
I’m poking a jigsaw vein with a rusty syringe.
Like a pinch on the arm, baby, keep it surreal.
Stand beneath the Eiffel Tower, a freedom kiss on the mouth.

Stare forever in the face until the fever runs out.
You know you love the taste of tetanus.
So pucker up and praise the slum lord.
Shoot up with god.

archives redux: smells like teen spirit

today, redlands enjoyed rain for the first time all year.

i was looking forward to writing about the change in weather when i realized that i wrote that same post 2 years ago when it rained for the first time on the same day.

my blog is like the farmer’s fuck almanac.

originally published two years ago today:

amidst rolling thunder and lightning crashes, socal was greeted with it’s first dose of rain this morning.

so if you’re one of those people who gets insanely annoyed when you hear people rejoicing over how much they l-o-v-e the rain, well then i’m afraid you-are-fucked.

however, if you take amusement at watching people scramble for protection under theirburberry umbrellasduring the most modest of sprinkles, well then today is your lucky day!

horray rain! ok so much for commentary on the weather.

i swear i’m not really a grumpy old man, i just play one on this blog.

eddie vedder: into the wild

how did i miss all the hoopla about eddie vedder’s solo soundtrack for the film “into the wild“?

maybe i was busy taking pictures of buster or something.

nonetheless here’s a great track from the record called ’society’.

peta is awesome

if i cant convince you, then maybe naked alicia silverstone can?

buster @ play

having a new dSLR becomes especially fun when you have a camera-loving-puppy.

new buster gallery is up here

30 rock

so 30 rock is on my top 5 list of favorite tv shows.

not only is it a great comedy, but tina fey writes/stars on the show and she looks like this…oh and she’s smart.

telemarketer revenge

this is the greatest thing i have ever heard. if you watch nothing else today watch this!

talk like a pirate day

today is annual talk like a pirate day.

i was celebrating by talking to buster in pirate-speak this morning and he looked very confused. of course this could have more to do with the fact that he doesnt speak english—more-less pirate.

arrgh busta!

the world is NOT flat

oh my hell

and how many women watch this show?

california speedway

over labor day weekend, my dad and i went to the california speedway to watch cars go fast around a two-mile oval.

even though i’m not a huge race fan, i’m a huge fan of my dad.

considering it’s been a few weeks since raceday, let me remind you that this was during the big-fuck-middle of socal’s heat wave.

at the speedway, the temperature was 114F with an on track temperature of 125F.

yeah.

person after person was dropping over with heat stroke and the med staff had their hands full. needless to say i was rehearsing the ABCs of emergency life support to myself should i have the chance to be a hero. i did not get the chance to a hero.

it was while walking around in the ungodly heat that i discovered that my 55year old father is in MUCH better shape than I am. Fortunately, he bought me numerous bottles of water and even a snowcone! (my dad is cooler than yours.)

as they closed down the pits and started kicking people out in preparation for the race to begin, my dad’s rebellious side started to become appartent. before i knew what was going on he had snuck us into the VIP section and we found ourselves behind the stage they were using for the pregame show.

i was standing there taking pictures of the drivers, when my dad told me to turn to my right. i swung around and saw Stevie Wonder and Melissa Etheridge waiting to go on stage. I was so close to Stevie that —were he not blind—the moment would have been uncomfortable. Oh and those two kids from that show “the suite life of zack and cody” were there too and all the little 8 year old girls were freaking out. i just looked at those two little bastards and shook my head in disbelief at how much tail they (are going to) get.

ok here are some pictures.

this chick was awesome. she was talking to this nobody-pit-guy because she was dying to “meet someone from the team”. when she asked him what she had to do to get a picture with him, he said, “lift up your shirt” so she hopped over the railing and started to pull up her shirt….at just about the time her husband walked up. this is the look on her face.

overcast, muggy pit stop.
Img 2599
as i said it was fuck hot. there was this hospitality area in the pits that had a drinking fountain. these two italians kept filling up there water bottles and dousing themselves from head to tail in water. shoes and all. maybe it’s a euro thing?
Img 2609
the speedway girls were there and at least two of them chose not to wear underwear. that is all.
Img 2625
here’s melissa etheridge standing by those two kids.
Img 2676
stevie wonder is awesome.
Img 2663
remember those speedway girls i mentioned?

Img 2629
this shot was my pride of the day. this is nascar champ jimmy johnson with his wicked hot girlfriend. i was so close to them in this shot that i felt like i was their personal photographer…or a pervert.
Img 2717
Img 2726
this dude spent the entire pre-race show talking to these two very-socal-girls. he was straight-up pretending to be a reporter and had a notepad and everything. note to self: buy notepad.

this guy spent the whole race sitting by himself and during a caution i snapped this shot

surviving the roses from my friends

“the stones from my enemies…these wounds will mend, but i cannot survive the roses from my friends.”
-ben harper

so i’ve been going through my photo library and migrating it over to a program that can handle all the RAW images i’ve been capturing on the dSLR. (this includes roughly 15000 pictures of buster….oh and lots of signs for some reason.)

as a general rule, i rarely delete photos b/c storage is cheap and you never know when in the future you’re going to want to flashback to the past. with that being said, i’ve got a fair amount of pictures that i cant stand to have around anymore.
(who would have known a few birthday parties worth of pictures could induce such a visceral response.)

with that in mind, i’ve purged my photo library of one too many reminders of what it’s like to take a knife in the back; while i wont have photos to remind me of how sad people can be, i’ve got the scars and they’ll do just fine.
