so it’s been a while since i’ve posted my top 10 played itunes songs.
here they are:
1.) Happiness Is a Warm Gun - The Beatles
2.) Fake Empire - the National
3.) Let It Ride - Ryan Adams
4.) Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors - Editors
5.) She’s In It for the Money - Matthew Good
6.) Time to Pretend - MGMT
7.) San Bernardino - The Mountain Goats
8.) Consolers of the Lonely - The Raconteurs
9.) Mistaken for Strangers - The National
10.) Wagon Wheel - Old Crow Medicine Show
the fun begins with the tagging and i’m calling on nic, supertiff, duane and phil to do the same.
remember…this has to be a list of your top 10 most played tracks in itunes and no fucking w/ your stats to look cool.
also my #1 most played song is a 40 year old beatles tune…so dont feel bad if your top10 seems weird.
that being said, every now and again i get an email saying that “so and so” wants to add you as a friend.
invariably “so and so” is a generically named girl with no profile picture and a name that matches someone with whom i once a.) went to school with b.) dated or c.) had a torrid affair with back in the summer of ‘69.
time and again i fall for this scam and click over to the person’s profile where they always begin their profile with:
“hey old friends! i love music, the internet and having hot sex!!!!”
then, i click the back button…delete “so and so’s” request to be friends…and mumble “fuck you myspace” under my breath.
so i’m jazzed b/c more and more of my “real-life” friends are using twitter (nic!). for those of you still on the fence, then you should watch this video and then signup for an acct already (stonebraker).
i’m in a very deathcab mood today and so here’s one more track from the band’s forthcoming album. this is the live acoustic version of “cath” taken from the live performance on BBC6.
the track’s folky and has a catchy guitar riff…oh and it’s about a GIRL!
the warm weather has forced the guy living in the building across from mine to take down his “RON PAUL FOR PREZ” sign so that he can open his window and let the breeze blow.
at first, i was glad not to have RON PAUL screaming at my face; however, now RON PAUL has been replaced by the screams of his two (twenty?) kids who are apparently torturing one another to death.
i think this would make a great “would you rather” party game question.
on saturday night, the pretty girl and i went out to dinner with some of her friends from work and our funny was in top form. if you’re a couple in need of a good double-date, then you should really keep us in mind. we dont disappoint. i mean we dont put out or anything, but we’re really good at keeping you laughing w/ our witty banter and all.
after dinner we couples went our separate ways, because you should always keep people wanting more.
meanwhile, the pretty girl and i went home and watched “dan in real life” b/c hanre said it was so good that she actually bought it on dvd. i was digging it a lot until i saw that dane cook had a supporting role; i held my breath for a few minutes waiting for the movie to get shitty, but dane’ character was just enough of a tool for dane to pull it off. big stretch much? as for the rest of the cast they were perfect and the dad was played by the guy who played frasier’s dad. i kept waiting to see eddie the dog hop on the couch and for niles to say something self-depricating.
in other news, my buddy josh is in utah shooting photos and teaching courses w/ the DLWS crew. after that he’s heading to orlando for photoshop world. yeah, his life sucks.
i think to celebrate photoshop world, i’m going to photoshop my head on all sorts of historical figures b/c i’ve been learning a lot from lonnie.
so i’ve been reading/listening to one report after another talking about obama’s relationship w/ his “pastor” jeremy wright and mccain’s relationships w/ falwell and robertson and i wish that:
1.) politicians didnt feel obligated to seek out support from “men of faith”
2.) americans didnt care if their presidential nominees “go to church” or “pray to jesus”
i was talking to stonebraker about this over IM while listening to “countdown w/ keith olberman” and it went like this:
Me: i hate pastors
Stonebraker: why?
Me: b/c they have way too much influence on american society/culture
so i just finished filling out my NCAA bracket and i feel pretty good about it. like last year, niko is coordinating the pool and this year we’ve got about 12people participating. unlike last year, niko’s using yahoo! sports to coordinate that various brackets.
i have no doubt that i will defend my VICTORY in last year’s bracket pool b/c everyone thinks that just b/c i sit over here w/ buster, blogging and being a doctor that i dont know college hoops. well they’re fucking wrong arent they!!!
anyway, if you want to check out my bracket using this link. i’ll send everyone who comments on this post an official “onelonelysuccess” prize w/ my winnings.
Andy Ihnatko just twittered the perfect analysis of Obama’s ‘Perfect Union’ speech:
Obama’s “Perfect Union” speech was a real “West Wing” moment. It’s the sort of thing Aaron Sorkin used to write for Jed Bartlet all the time. You know, the sort of thing that makes you think “Jeez, why is it that our REAL President never says stuff that clear, smart and inspiring?”
