as luck would have it, my schedule has allowed me to take a few extra days off from school to spend with misty and the family back home.
the magnitude of this news was not lost on buster who is super-jazzed to get to hang out with his favorite feline “Smiegel the Cat” (yes, the cat’s name is Smiegel but that’s another post entirely).
here’s more photographic proof that you may be prepared to handle on an idle monday:
you really haven’t lived until you’ve spent a weekend stalking your pets and waiting for a candid moment that will win you 1st place at the county fair.
often i will find myself rambling on-and-on about buster and the joys of dog-ownership to anyone who will listen is in shouting range.
one question i often get asked is, “…with your hectic med-student-schedule, how does Buster keep himself entertained while you’re away saving the world?” (you too, have probably found yourself wondering the same thing.)
explaining buster’s life is too complex for words, therefore, i’ve taken these photographs to sum up his busy life.
as you may recall from previous posts, my good friend Josh Bradley is an amazing photographer. over the past couple of years, he’s been lending his talents to the rest of us mere mortals teaching numerous photography classes all over the world.
a few weekends back, i had a chance to sit down with josh and have him show me what Nik’s software could do with a “barely-average” photo I had taken on a recent trip to Mammoth Lakes.
In roughly 5mins, josh had taught me how to take my “eh” photo into something presentable.
here’s the before photo:
using Silver Efex, josh created this:
and using Color Efex Pro 3.0 and a few layering tricks in Photoshop, we got this cool HDR-effect:
pretty cool, eh?
the best part is that these techniques and about 75 more are all in the book, step-by-step lesson-style. you can buy it over at Amazon and should definitely check it out if you’re interested in taking your photography up a few notches.
a few weeks ago i noticed that my bittorrent downloads software updates were downloading much faster than normal. a couple of days passed before i received a promo mailer from Roadrunner saying that they had upgraded their Turbo broadband package w/ “speed boost technology”.
after a quick visit to speakeasy.net, i can confirm that this was more than just a marketing ploy.
At 6:45pm PST, we here at onelonelysuccess.com are prepared to make a call in the 2008 Presidential Election:
Senator Barack Obama (D) from Illinois has won the presidential election over John McCain (R) of Arizona and will become the 44th President of the United States.
based on the absurdity of my iTunes "Top 25 Most Played" list i can't imagine that my neighbors could complain. feel bad, yes...complain NO! 2 days ago
in the quad area outside my apt a girl is sobbing & her friends are consoling her. Buster will not stop barking at them. sympathy FAIL 2 days ago
