The Ruin of the Obama Presidency (The Liberal Media is MIA)

if you’ve been listening to CNN during the past 36hrs, then you too must be impressed with the “republican renaissance” that is sweeping the country (read: New Jersey & Virginia).

the good people over at squashed put the whole fuck thing in perspective:

In the 2008 election, Barack Obama won 57.27% of the votes in New Jersey. Yesterday, his approval rating among voters in New Jersey was only 57%. So in New Jersey, it looks like Obama’s Presidency faces a serious threat from media rounding.

In the 2008 election, Barack Obama won 52.63% of the vote. In yesterday’s election, his approval rating in Virginia was only 51% among voters surveyed. It seems that either Obama has lost an entire 1.63% of the vote or voter turnout among Obama’s supporters was down. Or maybe some voters on the far left would vote for Obama over a conservative but don’t approve of his centrist policies. Either way, we could be looking yesterday’s election sent an unambiguous message. Or something.

interesting how the “liberal media” is droning on and on about the Obama downfall, eh? reminds me of the time that the “liberal media” gave Geroge W. a pass on Iraq and Reagan a week-long funeral.

someone put crazy pills in my tea

so today people—who apparently have more money than time—protested all across the country against what they consider to be “extreme socialistic-type taxation” by the Obama administration.

even before i can right a word, you must know that there are so many things wrong with that thought that it makes my head hurt and all i want to do is pull my hair until i forget that these people even exist.

ok…

first of all, if you think that america is becoming “socialist” b/c of the slight tax increase on the wealthiest of americans, then i’m sorry, we just don’t even live in the same universe, more-less speak the same language and it would take technology light-years ahead of our own for us to even understand each other.

secondly, these bat-shit-crazy-heroes had to utilize at least a dozen different public services just to get to their respective protest. I’m talking about the roads they drove in on, the police who kept an eye on their craziness, the postal service they used to mail out their literature and the colleges they could have attended had they ever had any intellectual fuck curiousity.

hey! not so fast asshole, that stuff costs money. ya know how a government gets money? from people paying their fair-share-fuck-tax!

i’m going to pause mid-thought for a second to point out that these intellectual-giants drove to their protest with bumperstickers that read “support the troops“. so…the iraq war costs no less than 2,000 MILLION dollars per day. again, ya know how the military gets that money? from people paying their god-fuck-taxes!

finally, does it really surprise anyone that the first time these highly-convicted-citizens got off their lazyboy recliners and flipped off “Hanity” long enough to take a stand for anything it was to rally around the banner of taxes and the all mighty dollar?

i, for one, am glad that the conservative crowd has finally found a cause worth their time…afterall, time is money.

i’m a make believe canadian

Vote

the great schlep (dont be a douche nozzle)

so tonight sarah silverman was on Jay Leno which feels like it should be be illegal in at least 48 states.

nonetheless, she was able to promote her pro-obama video “the great schlep” which is both politcal & comedy genius.

next week, when obama wins, i’m going to invite sarah to my election-after-party.

the rude pundit

the rude pundit sums up perfectly the impact of Obama’s infomercial to racist-white-conservative-america:

If you still thought prior to it that Barack Obama was going to rape your white wife and kill your white children, there’s no amount of ad time that would change your mind.

the “rest” of us watched it and were—once again—amazingly proud to have supported Obama for the past 20months.

next tuesday cannot come soon enough.

are you better off?

whom better to deliver this message than Reagan himself?

one week to go

wonderfully timely video…

one week to go kids.

a brief comparison

This is a photo of the two presidential candidates immediately following the 3rd presidential debate.

One of them has a strong lead over the other.

…can you guess who the front-runner is?

A Message to Undecided Voters

with exactly 2 weeks remaining until the general election, i wanted to send a message to the all important “undecided voter“.

you are an uninformed attention whore.

now before you call me a jerk, realize that these are among the stupidest people in the country. for nearly the past 2 years, both Obama and McCain have been campaigning around-the-clock from coast-to-coast and only the most intentionally ignorant and purposely uninformed could still be “undecided”.

the geniuses at the Daily Show illustrate this point with the following pie chart:

in closing, consider the words of David Sedaris (whose latest book, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, is pure genius) has the following to say with regards to undecided voters:

To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”

To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.

everyone chill

the past few weeks worth of economic news have been rather unsettling to say the least; in fact, one of the only comforting developments to come out of the bankrupting of america is that the electorate finally seems to be paying attention to an actual “issue”.

honestly, during that whole “lipstick on a pig” nonsense i thought i was going to lose my brains and call it quits and move to canada w/ the other cool kids.

for the time being, i’m going to set aside my plans for dual-citizenship and see how things shake out here in jesus land.

the image below is from punditkitchen.com and it really does a nifty job of making me feel better.

in fact, i think i’m going to start using this as my tag line at school when things get crazy.

yeah, this is definitely my new mantra…chill the fuck out…chill the fuck out…chill the fuck out.

more on hope

Ralph Nader to Run for President

yesterday ralph nader committed himself to a third consecutive run for the presidency.

here’s senator obama’s reaction from the only paper of record, the NY Times:

Mr. Obama, campaigning in Ohio, said: “Ralph Nader deserves enormous credit for the work he did as a consumer advocate. But his function as a perennial candidate is not putting food on the table of workers.”
Mr. Obama also criticized Mr. Nader for equating Mr. Gore and Mr. Bush: “Eight years later, people realize that Ralph did not know what he was talking about.”

Obama is dead on with his impressions of a 2008 Nader presidential-bid. Remember when Ralph was a hero? These days he just seems angry and bitter. Damn shame.

i would take a huckabee vs obama election

a southern baptist preacher just won the republican iowan caucus. the very dude who is quoted as saying:

“The immigration issue is not so much about people coming to pick lettuce or make beds, it’s about people who could come with a shoulder-fired missile and could do serious damage and harm to us…”

-Mike Huckabee

01-02-2008.NPO_02hucknorrisNEW.GQ42AE2CQ.1.jpg

Merlin Mann described Huckabee best with this quote:

Mike Huckabee, whose foreign policy experience to date encompasses english muffins, chinese checkers, and sight-reading the bass tab for Toto’s 1982 hit, “Africa.”

In more optimistic news, Barack Obama won the democratic caucus and rarely in U.S. history has there been such a striking contrast between the ideology of the two leading parties.
