so it’s the second week of April and I’m just finishing up with all the life from February. that being said, i think i’m just going to throw out the page of my desk calendar that reads “march“.
so I moved out of my redlands-flat and into a more “house-like” place a stone’s throw from school. moving was a son-of-a-bitch and doing so reminded me of why I lived where I did and paid what i paid in rent for the past 3.5 years. this may or may not be directly related to the fact that i’m 3.5years older and not exactly in world-class-shape.
so i’ve been living in the new place for almost a month and i absolutely love it. my total walk time from my front-door to campus is 4mins and that’s with all my heavy-breathing/sweating. lacking any empirical evidence, i would estimate a healthy person could make the trip in under 3mins. (but then they wouldn’t be living my rock-star-life now would they?)
thankfully, all my schwag has found it’s proper place and b/c you’ve been dying to see pictures, i thought i would do the gentlemanly thing and share:

check out the vintage DMB posters hung over the couch with care.

here’s a crappy iPhone shot showing the BAMF IKEA bookshelf (PLUS DOORS) that @lewisesq kindly donated to the cause of being awesome.

next to Buster, my Mac and ThePrettyGirl, this is my pride & joy. 42″ of LCD HDTV lovin’ (notice the subtle incandescent lighting behind the flatscreen).
ladies?

finally, here’s BusterTheDog not giving a flying-fuck about where I place the furniture but is all about my CalKing Bed’s numerous pillows. (when i jump into bed i like to be ensconced with pillowy fluffiness.
i no longer have any secrets…are you happy with yourself?
ok, come over sometime, bai.

so random-playlist-shuffle-mode on iTunes has been picking out some cool music for me tonight. in the past, i’ve had a notoriously love/hate relationship with the shuffle button; tonight all is forgiven.
busterthedog is peeling around the apartment intent on giving his squeaky-tennisball hell. i fear the squeaker may not survive the night.
outside the june gloom is threatening to make good on its promise to break up with springtime and shower us with rain.
tonight’s a random night, so here are some random photos from Madison to go with it.

so i finally got back from my week long trip to madison, wisconsin.
it’s taken nearly 24hours, but i’m finally unpacked and most of my laundry is done. in retrospect, i should have made use of the hilton’s laundry services b/c a weeks worth of dirty clothes does not make for a nice smelling suitcase.
also, busterthedog has finally realized that i am back home for good and is once again his playful, well-adjusted-self. (it was touch-and-go for a while though)
to welcome me back to campus, my department asked me to give two lectures in the neuroscience course today. being the meticulous planner that i am, i waited until yesterday to finish up 45 slides on the hippocampus, the papez circuit, long-term potentiation, etc. yeah…so that made for a long night last night. my poor planning, however, was not my fault…it was actually sam and farnaz’s fault for dragging me out to one too many “events” while i was away in Madison.
the good news of the day is that the lectures went smashingly well and everyone was giving me high-fives and ass-slaps afterwards. the high fives were cool, but if one more med school professor slaps my ass i’m going to start feeling weird about it.
i’ve also got about 60 photos from downtown Madison that I’m editing with the help of various adobe photoshop products. here are a few to tease you with until i finish with the rest.

thanksgiving in bakersfield was so incredible. each year my mom finds a way to out-due-herself, this year was no exception.
leanne and brandon are all married and shit and went to brandon’s parents on thursday, so we celebrated all together on Friday. everyone was there and even the buster could feel the thanksgiving-love.
here are a few photos from the day. as always click to supersize-the-lovin.

my mom placed these glass bunches of grapes on each of the antique crystal place-settings. after my dad prayed (i didnt close my eyes), my mom told us that each of us could take the grapes from our setting and place them on the empty platter in the center of the table. once all the pieces were in place, the centerpiece was complete. doing so symbolized that without each one of us being there, the table’s centerpiece would have been incomplete. i made a mental note to tear up about this later in the day.

some how i always figure out a way to not make it into any of the photos from any event. this is most likely due to the fact that i am always the one w/ the camera. so instead of a photo of myself, i always photograph a candle to remind my mom that i was there and that i am the light of the world—like baby jesus.

also, buster chose laine as his favorite person to sit with after dinner.

laine’s sweater was black and hair-free before buster sat with her on the couch. this was not the case when she left.
good times.
