personally, i’m digging on “crossed out name” but your mileage my vary. here’s classic ryan adams courtesy of youtube. i think this is my favorite ryanadam’s performance and keeps me squeaking on my harmonica in attempts to duplicate his sound. so far, my harmonica skills are slightly better than FAIL but not quite up to being just “suck”.
in unrelated news, today i helped teach a 4hour lab to first-year med students. the topic was blood histology and it was exhausting. to compound the monotony of teaching blood histo was the fact that the class was divided into 2 sections which meant teaching it once and then repeating it 120mins later. this effect was also compounded by the fact that the class was broken up into 12 small groups per lab period.
by the end of the day, i felt like i had repeated myself 1000x and caught a glimpse of what it must be like to give a political stump speech and hit the same talking point ad nauseam. I guess the only difference was that everything I said was true…everytime I said it.

today the following greatest hits occurred:
went for a morning jog and did a set of “8min abs” afterwards b/c i have 8mins but do NOT have abs
got to school early and got the kick ass parking spot right in front of the med building
listened, studied and taught b/c being a doctor is hard
stumbled out of school around 630pm and walked out to the farthest parking lot before remembering #2
started developing a pain in my abdomen around 5pm and feared that my appendix was about to rupture…immediately began to panic about the timing of such an event before remembering the sit-ups from #1
am considering carrying around a little pocket notepad to remind myself of number of sit-ups performed and location of my vehicle.
listening to ryan adams’ “easy tiger” album b/c it’s Fall
so yesterday i received a big fat check for $130USD from bluehost.com for all of the referrals & link-love I send their way. if you want to get your blog in on that kind of hot-capitalist-action, then email me or leave me a comment on this post. oh and for everyone who used my referral link (stonebraker, et al) you rawk. i owe you all a beverage of your liking.
last week i went to a seminar at school that sounded interesting and i got stuck sitting between the two most annoying girls on campus:
girl on the left was crazy-eyeball-chick from way back when and gal on the right seemed nice enough, but she was listening to her ipod during the talk and FRANTICALLY pounding out a text message on her flip phone. i knew exactly when she made a mistake b/c she would sigh in frustration in her “i’m listening to my ipod and cant hear myself” voice. as a general rule, you should only use your “indoor voice” during a scientific talk.
i’ve been listening to the new REM record and it’s pretty damn good. maybe those guys just needed a few years off to shake off the disaster that was their previous album. afterall, this is the band that wrote “e-bow the letter” and single-handedly ushered in the emo genre.
tomorrow is almost here and i’ve got a lot of work to do b/c i’m taking a super-secret out-of-state trip on thursday…more on that when the mood’s right.
Somewhat jazzed about my downtown Phoenix accomodations...especially considering the hospital is footing the bill and throwing in a per diem [jeffcarter]
Hotel reservations for my week in Phoenix have been made...no thanks to the efforts of @hotels_com wildly incompetent/rude customrer service [jeffcarter]
Irate with @hotels_com after spending 1hr+ on the phone to be told that while my price match qualified, the lower price was TOO LOW to match [jeffcarter]
